SomGovWatch.org is an independent civil society transparency and documentation initiative focused on reporting and organizing information related to governance, land administration, and constitutional compliance in Somalia.

We are not affiliated with, connected to, or representing the Federal Government of Somalia or any of its ministries, agencies, or institutions.

We operate as a civic, independent platform driven by public interest concerns and community reporting.

Our Background and Purpose

SomGovWatch.org was created in response to growing concerns and reported experiences involving land acquisition, demolition, and property disputes in Somalia.

We have observed and documented reports describing situations where:

  • Land was reportedly acquired under the stated justification of public infrastructure development (such as road construction)
  • Properties were subsequently demolished or confiscated without adequate compensation or relocation
  • Affected individuals were later informed they must repurchase their own land at significantly higher prices (reported in some cases up to approximately USD $45,000)
  • Land previously occupied by families was then reportedly reallocated to private business actors

These reports, whether individually verified or not, reflect serious public concern regarding transparency, due process, and land governance practices.
